Coinciding with the 40 year anniversary of Leeds Craft Centre and Design gallery and their exhibition ‘Coast’; join exhibiting artist printmaker Sarah Harris for a 2 day masterclass and have a go at some of the techniques behind her stunning prints. Over the course of the weekend, Sarah will discuss her process and guide you in producing your very own pen drawing which will form the basis of a multi-layered screen-print.

Learning some tricks of the trade direct from Sarah along the way; during the workshop you will explore some of the specific requirements and considerations of drawing for screen-print, including composition, perspective, linework, and progress in utilising these techniques to produce a piecewhich will become the starting point for your own small print edition.

This course includes learning the basics of water based screen printing using the photo emulsion method, where you will prepare screens, mix inks, print and learn to register individual layers.

Sarah Harris is an artist from Shipley who creates limited edition screen prints depicting landscapes, mainly from around Yorkshire.  Working from original pen drawings, Harris’s work pays particular attention to the relationship between man-made and natural elements that are entwined into our landscapes and shows locations in a way that has been influenced by the artist’s memories and connections with these places.
