Otley Coffee Culture Festival 2024

This year I’ll be selling my prints at Otley Coffee Festival, a biannual event for the coffee-lovers’…I don’t like coffee but don't tell anyone!

As well as coffee there will also be a selection of Yorkshire based makers selling their wares….I’m classed as further afield so they like to keep things local!

So what is a coffee Festival?

“At a coffee festival you can enjoy finding out more about coffee and associated products, whatever your level of expertise. At a festival, you would typically be able to taste and compare coffee, watch, and perhaps participate in, latte art, coffee tasting competitions and brewing demonstrations. Coffee brands and merchants would tell you their story”

This years festival theme is ”The World in Your Cup. Both the talks programme and the exhibition will be based on that theme, considering how what we drink, eat, and buy can be better for us and the wider world in which we live.” For more details please visit the website here.

Tickets at £7 in advance, £9 on the door and Children 3 and under are Free

So glad to be coming back to the seaside, and this wonderful event The Staithes Festival of Art and Heritage in one of my favourite places.  I will be again exhibiting at Greystones, a 17th century grade II listed house that was originally a village inn called the Golden Lion – and reputedly a hotbed of smuggling activity!

I have come together with a great bunch of artists…

Caroline Brogden, contemporary jeweller (formally Sea Breeze Designs), makes beautiful hand made jewellery inspired by the sea in both silver and gold.

Charlotte Morrison makes ceramics inspired by vintage packaging and her most recent collection looks at paths and contours in the Yorkshire landscape.

Jillian Riley Designs producing porcelain vessels inspired by mythology and a passion for things that are a little on the dark side.

Visitors can walk the maze of lanes visiting these spaces as well as taking part in a programme of guided walks, workshops, talks and film shows. Heritage too plays an important part in the life of the village and will be celebrated in events and exhibitions throughout the weekend. There will be a vibrant programme of music ranging from street buskers to concerts. Visit the website for more details.

Sarah Harris is an artist from Shipley who creates limited edition screen prints depicting landscapes, mainly from around Yorkshire.  Working from original pen drawings, Harris’s work pays particular attention to the relationship between man-made and natural elements that are entwined into our landscapes and shows locations in a way that has been influenced by the artist’s memories and connections with these places. Sarah was a shortlisted artist for our Flourish Award back in 2014 and 2015, winning the People’s Choice Award in 2014.

Experience level

This course is suitable for beginners and those who need a refresher, and can act as a lead-in to membership of WYPW so that you can continue to use and develop the techniques you have learned. Explore this diverse medium in a friendly learning environment using our excellent facilities.
